Wildclash 2026 is almost here! This year, Indiana Wesleyan University’s premier FGC tournament is sponsored by Odyssey Esports! The tournament is set to be Indiana’s largest Smash event of the summer. This year, the tournament is boasting some intense competition with multiple brackets, including Ultimate Singles, Melee Singles, Rivals of Aether 2 Singles, as well as a ladder bracket for Smash Ultimate.

Fierce battles are in store as many top-ranked players from the surrounding states and more are already confirming attendance. Soul, Kentucky’s #1 player, Dr. Kirb, Ohio’s #1 player, and Indiana’s own BBBeans! are preparing for a showdown alongside many other state-ranked players and Osh9 all the way from Florida. The event will be streamed on the Odyssey Esports Twitch channel at twitch.tv/odysseyesportsin for anyone wishing to tune in.

The tournament will be held on August 1st in the Barnes Student Center on Indiana Wesleyan’s campus. Registration is open until July 28th at 11:59pm EST at start.gg/iwuwildclash. All event entries cost $10, with the exception of ladder, which is free for registered players. Spectators can purchase passes for $10. Both purchases include an extra pass for parents or guardians of their attending minors. IWU staff and students can receive free spectator passes. More information can be found at the start.gg page.

This event is another labor of love for Odyssey Esports, Indiana’s local esports organization. The organization’s goal is to bring high-quality gaming tournaments to players in and around Northeast Indiana. For years, the team has been creating increasingly attended events that have reached national rankings. Players in the community have consistently attended weekly Odyssey events for over three years alongside large events that have amassed over 400 competitors at one event.

Odyssey Esports is just one of the organizations contributing to the growth of esports. This rapidly emerging form of competition has been growing all over Indiana. Esports serves as a commitment that cultivates many of the same skills and experiences as traditional sports. Competition, teamwork, coaching, and structured practice are all benefits that students can learn through their Esports teams. Total esports student competitors in Indiana are rivaling the numbers of traditional high school sports tournaments. These opportunities often guide students toward college recruiting and scholarships through collegiate esports teams. The growing opportunity of esports allows students to enter a new environment to show off their skills that traditional sports do not highlight.

The growth of esports undeniable. Odyssey Esports intends to further the growth of local tournaments in Northeast Indiana to make the state a hub for in-person, competitive esports.
