“Hoosier Saga” is an invitational bracket consisting of 32 of Indiana’s best Smash players. Since October 2024, Indiana Smash players have been competing to gain their invite to the Hoosier Saga. Now, the time has come for players to compete to win this tournament on May 17, 2025.
Several PR players were expected to earn their entry early on and followed through, such as Woulphy, duck190, Grease All Mighty, +, and Gersly. Kicking off 2025, Mystearica quickly joined the qualified competitors. With only four more months to qualify, the competition started heating up. Boogie, Jaxib, Parz, Bray, AUGMENT, and finally Loafer all qualified through various tournaments.
A collegiate qualifier introduced another option for players hoping to qualify. Bubbawatso, Blake645, Ben T., Gus, VideOJames!, Espurrz, Fede, and Illusion were able to qualify through this bracket. Similarly, a high school qualifier gave Indiana Youth players their chance to invade the bracket. Six high schoolers, BBBeans!, Braree08, Caimn, Jumbo Josh, Respect, and GetHxlp, will compete in the bracket on Saturday.
Indiana’s true popularity contest commenced as the qualifying tournaments ended. Many players signed up to be voted in, but only four were chosen by the state’s entire player base. Players were able to use accumulated votes from attending tournaments to support their favorite players. They were also able to purchase votes and merch to further their support. Danny Phantasma, Wes, Rudby, and Mario were the lucky few chosen to be voted into the tournament’s rankings.
On Friday night, May 16, players who have yet to qualify for the invitational will compete in a “Last Chance Qualifier” or “LCQ.” The two highest placing participants will gain their invite into Hoosier Saga.
Aside from the invitational bracket, Hoosier Saga is also hosting an open bracket for those who wish to compete. Pools will take place Saturday morning and top cut will end after the top 16 of the invitational bracket have been decided.
Finally, there is always the option to spectate the event instead of competing. Spectating will be free to anyone who wishes to attend! Additionally, the tournament will be streamed on Odyssey Esports’ Twitch channel for those who cannot make it out to the event.
